I thought it would be helpful to put all my posts about certain equipment in one place for you. I'm going to start with all my food photography camera posts. I'm organizing each roundup by equipment type to make it easier to find what you are looking for. As always, let me know if you have any questions in the comments below. Let's start with the most popular post on the blog: What is the best camera when you are on a budget? Buying a camera is completely overwhelming. There is a new camera born every 5 seconds. I made that up, but it certainly feels true. In this post I hopefully can shed some light for you to make your decision a little easier. What is the best lens for food photography? The Most Popular Foodie Documentaries
Continuing our conversation from our last post about the most popular Foodie Movies, this post is all about the most popular foodie documentaries. I actually love documentaries about food. Don't get me started about how I feel about the Standard American Diet and how the FDA has really just become a large marketing firm at our expense for big Ag and big Pharma companies. There's a few kinds of foodie documentaries here - the political ones, the biographical ones, and the ones with a wonderful story, so I'll list the political ones separately as that's not everyone's cup of tea :) Each category is in no particular order: BIOGRAPHICAL FOODIE DOCUMENTARIES Jiro dreams of sushi 2011 Jiro Dreams Of Sushi on IMDB. Jiro has turned sushi into an art form, and even though he was the first sushi chef to receive three Michelin Stars, he feels that he still hasn't reached perfection ...
The Most Popular Foodie Movies
Hopefully you will get some time off this holiday season. What better way to spend it than to sit down with some homemade popcorn and watch a fun foodie movie! I asked the Food Photography Club FB group members what were their favorite foodie movies, and here is what they said. If I've left out some of your favorites, please post them in the comments below. My next post will be about the most popular foodie documentaries. These are in no particular order: Chef 2014 Starring Jon Favreau playing a head chef who totally goes off on a customer, has a fabulous twitter war with a critic, and starts a food truck. Chef on IMDB Julie and Julia 2009 Right when this whole blogging thing started to take off, this movie is a cute story of a woman who decided to take on the challenge of cooking every recipe in Julia Child's first cookbook, "Mastering The Art Of French Cooking", and ...
5 Steps To Finding Your Ideal Commercial Photography Clients
There are two types of photographers in the world. We have the hobbyist photographer who is not taking pictures to make a profit, they do it for the love of it, and then we have the professional photographer who is trying to make a living from their photography work. Wouldn't it be wonderful to take pictures that you love to shoot, and have someone pay you to do that? That is the dream for any professional photographer. We do need to make one distinction though with the professional photographers. We have the professional photographers that work with consumers. They do fine art work, portraits and weddings. Then we have professional photographers that work with commercial photography clients. What Is Commercial Photography? Commercial photographers create photographic images that are used to sell a product or a service for a business. Most of the time, these jobs pay quite ...

Running Your Photography Business 1 - Contracts: Estimates, Invoices, Terms and Conditions, Model and Property Release Forms. Don't worry if that totally freaked you out. I know it's a lot but The APA (American Photographic Artists) Business Manual is here to help you. This is a free resource! Please be very careful buying a "commercial photography" template from anyone. I've review several of these templates and NONE of them have what I need as a commercial photographer. All the ones I've seen so far that are pages long, don't have any places to put the basic info we need ...
How To Make Your Photography Portfolio Book
Alright, we are now going to talk about how to make your professional photography portfolio book. It doesn't matter what subject matter you shoot, if you want to get clients, you will eventually need a printed book. Warning, this is a mega post. Please check out my last post about what images you need in your food photography portfolio. I share with you a list to give you several ideas, and reminders of what images you will need to create for your food book. There are two ways to make your book. #1 - Buy the actual book presentation and print it yourself. #2 - Have it printed, mounted, and bound for you (also called Print On Demand). In this post, we will cover the first option, printing your book yourself. I will cover the Print On Demand option for you in another post. I thoroughly researched this info a while back, and was surprised at how hard it was to find information ...
