I am declaring Thursday, August 21st, National Food Photography Day! And what better way to celebrate this than with a food photography contest.
What started this whole idea? I was looking up what holidays where going to fall on a day I was planning on doing a photography class. I wanted to make sure I didn’t plan a class on a major holiday. This goolge search brought up several websites that are dedicated to listing every holiday for every day of the year, both official and unofficial holidays. You would be shocked how many holidays there are every day, like No Socks Day, National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day (yum!), Walk On Your Wild Side Day, and hundreds more.
National Food Photography Day will be a day celebrating the beauty of food through photography. Whether you are a professional photographer or not, anyone can join us in this celebration. Do you have a food blog and love shooting food? We want to celebrate you!

This contest will be taking place on Facebook on the Food Photography Club page. This is a free contest to enter.
There will be two separate photography contests in order to make this a fair contest. One will be for professional photographers and the other will be for food bloggers.

The food blogger’s food photography contest is being sponsored by MDR Photography Classes. In order to enter you must have a food blog online and you are not a professional photographer. A professional photographer gets paid to do photography for a living.
Food Blogger’s Food Photography Contest Prizes:
1st Place: I’m very excited to announce that the first prize will be one of my favorite lenses to shoot food with, the Canon 100mm macro lens. This lens is worth $600 and it’s super crazy sharp (means, really in focus)!
2nd Place: A ticket to the Natural Light Food Photography Class held in Marina Del Rey, worth $365. If you’ve already taken this class then you can take the Studio Light Food Photography Class instead.
