We had so many nice entries for the food photography contest, I just had to share our favorites with you. As you scroll down you can see several of the entries.
I decided to do a food photography contest to celebrate National Food Photography Day, the holiday I made up a few months ago. Yes, you can do that. You can just declare any day, any holiday you like. So I thought how fun would it be to celebrate my new holiday by running a food photography contest.
There were two categories – Food Bloggers, who must have a food blog online, and Pro Food Photographers, folks who make a living shooting food.
There were two ways to win. 1st place was the Judge’s Pick and 2nd place was the Viewer’s Choice award, picked by all the folks who voted for the contest on Facebook. For more details on this and the awards, see my page, National Food Photography Day and Contest
Above you see the winner of the Food Blogger contest, Rachel Ballard of The Country Contessa. We loved this shot of her white Cheddar Popovers. Here is what she has to say about her image, “Taken in natural light, Canon T3i, 50 mm 1.8mm lens. I was so proud of the color and contrast of this image and the golden color comes from farm eggs–it has not been color enhanced”.
We liked how the food pops right out of the image. The shot is so nicely simply, with the textured wood surface and the beautiful colors in the background that go so nicely with the food.
The Viewer’s Choice award went to Linda Masu of Food In Pixels for her shot of Oven Roasted Tomatoes.
The winner of the Pro Food Photographer contest is Bart Luczak with his Seafood Pasta. We liked the contrasting colors that brought out the food. Your eyes go right to the large prawns and then start to bounce around the pan to see all the other seafood.
The Viewer’s Choice award went to Sophia Terra-Ziva with her Christmas Baklava. Here is what she has to say about her food, “Our family Christmas baklava “The Star of Bethlehem” is one of the staple dishes on this special day. It is flaky sweet dessert, with filo pastry, walnuts, cinnamon and citrus infused syrup”.
Here are many of the favorite images picked by the judges as you scroll down with the photographer’s blog and/or websites.
